Turn Up Their Radio is a special celebration honouring the lives and contributions of Ron Tremaine, John Freeman and Barrie McAskill, three individuals whose passion, talent and dedication helped shape South Australia's music culture. Ron Tremaine was one of Adelaide's great music entrepreneurs and promoters, remembered for bringing The Beatles to Adelaide in 1964 and for his enormous contribution to venues, live entertainment and music journalism through Young Modern Magazine, The Princeton Club and The Old Lion. John Freeman began his career as a music journalist with The News before becoming a respected performer with Fraternity, Red Angel Panic, Levi Smith's Clefs, Some Dream, Mickey Finn, Hoy Hoy and many more, while also championing Adelaide's vibrant blues community. Barrie McAskill, affectionately known as Adelaide's "King of Rock 'n' Roll", enjoyed one of the longest and most celebrated careers in South Australian music history, fronting legendary groups including The Fabulous Drifters, The Clefs and Levi Smith's Clefs. Featuring performances by: 🎸 The Beatles Experience recreating The Beatles' legendary 1964 Adelaide performance in tribute to Ron Tremaine 🎸 Chain featuring Matt Taylor 🎸 The Masters Apprentices 🎸 Plus more Throughout the evening, family members, friends and fellow musicians will share stories, memories, rare archival footage and personal tributes celebrating the profound impact Ron, John and Barrie had on generations of South Australian music lovers. This is more than a concert.
